3D-scanning

Area of Technology:
The technology areas are mainly optics, laser, electro optics and visualization

Background:
A 3D scanner is used to make a digital model of a real-world object. Today 3D-scanning of objects is used widely in our society, for example in production of movies, reverse engineering, documentation of cultural artifacts and quality control.
There are several techniques that may be of interest for us for 3D-scanning and this thesis aims to investigate one of the technologies deeper, first theoretically and then practically.
Preferred technologies for study would be Photogrammetry (Two or several Cameras with Markers), Laser Scanning (Triangulation with Laser and Camera) or Interference (Pattern Projection Techniques and Camera, Moire).
The thesis is suitable for one or two Master of Science Students. Project Goal:
? Investigate 3D scanning technology giving a digital model with high accuracy
? Design a 3D scanning system
? Prepare a report

Master Thesis Report:
? The Westinghouse report(s) shall be written in English
? The Master Thesis report can be written in either Swedish or English
