Moving to The Cloud – an investigation of the benefits and example implementation

Background
“The cloud” is getting a lot of attention, but how do you use it practically and what are the benefits? When one have a need for dynamic server solution (processing and/or storage), what are the practical implications and cost difference for using “the cloud” compared to a “normal” server solution.

The thesis work
This thesis work is to evaluate current cloud solutions and design, implement and evaluate the actual move for a specific application. We have applications that currently are run in a standard server environment. We would like to try moving one to The Cloud and also get documentation and investigation of pros and cons now and in the future. This includes security and data safety, as well as costs and performance.
