DESIGNING A WIRELESS CAMERA PLATFORM FOR HOME SURVEILLANCE

Vultura AB is working with the next generation of home alarm systems, based on video surveillance, image recognition and online services. We are based on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.

We are offering an opportunity for a very exciting x-job where you will form a small project team to design a complete product from scratch until ready to start manufacturing. You will work closely together with our product team, but it will be your project.

The product is a wireless surveillance camera system, and the project includes hardware selection, development of embedded software, and potentially also collaboration with a parallel x-jobb in Industrial Design for the camera housing and preparation for manufacturing.

The project includes refining requirements together with the company, conduct research for determining most suitable components such as processor platform, IR motion detector, battery, and radio technology, and then hardware design, software architecture and development, and finally building a fully working prototype. We are keen to explore radio technologies such as Zigbee and low power wifi.

We may in parallel run another x-job or project in Industrial Design to create the design of the camera housing and mechanics. This part of the project would include refining requirements for the look and feel of the camera to be optimized for the alarm purposes, coordinating with the system design to be able to fit the electronics, do research on suitable components such as lenses, motor drives etc, and prototype building. This project would end with having established manufacturing in China of the product you have designed.

Both the system design x-job and the industrial design x-job are likely to have contacts with factories in China to ensure that the design is optimized for low cost manufacturing in China.

We believe the system part of the project is ideally performed by a team of two x-jobbers that work together. Either on a shared x-jobb, or we make two different x-jobs that are linked. We believe it is an advantage if at least one of you isfrom China in order to be able to liaise well with the factories.
