GUI for mobile assets tracking in underground mines
ABB Corporate Research in Västerås is one of the ABB Group’s research centers. Our mission is to provide ABB business units with long-term research and development within Automation and Power Technologies. In Västerås we are about 230 innovative scientists and engineers who all work towards the same goal – to be the preferred technology partner for our business units.
The purpose of this master thesis is to design and develop a graphical user interface for human supervision of mobile assets (vehicles and equipment) in underground mines. The GUI is supposed to be used for assets tracking and for identifying interesting usage patterns. Within the proposed work there is room for a creative student to formulate a further scope. This master thesis will be an active part in a wider corporate research project for improving underground mine automation. The work will be conducted in collaboration with another master thesis student with the objective to create graphical user interface for supervision of communication and instrumentation in underground mines. The outcome of the proposed work is of outmost importance for our business.
• M.Sc in Computer Science with deep knowledge/interest in computer graphics and user interface design
• Communication and presentation skills in English are essential
• Independent, outgoing, ambitious, and goal oriented are qualities we are looking for
Financial compensation for the thesis is paid in the form of a bonus (20 000 – 40 000 kr) when the thesis is approved by the examiner at the university or college. ABB may offer accommodation in Västerås.
