Master Thesis: New protein characterization methods
Thesis work in Biotechnology or equivalent / small scale protein sample preparation.
We now have an opening for a thesis work within the Lab Media department to develop analysis methods to monitor protein purification process based on surface plasmon resonance technology on a Biacore instrument.
GE Healthcare Life Sciences in Uppsala develops and markets various types of products for the separation and analysis of proteins. The Lab Media department develops new research products for protein purification and sample preparation.
This thesis work focuses on utilizing surface plasmon resonance technology for analyses of protein samples on a Biacore instrument. The aim is to be able to follow and better characterize the protein purification process. The work will include setting up analysis methods using appropriate reagents, validating the test methods and applying the methods for analyses.
- Education in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Chemistry in the stage of diploma work.
- Solid laboratory skills
- Knowledge on surface plasmon resonance (Biacore) technology would be advantageous
- Goal oriented and structured at work, good analytic abilities
- Able to work independently with support of supervisor and good collaborative skills
- Interested in research and laboratory work
- Good planning skills
The thesis project will cover 30 ETCS and will preferably start on 1st February 2012.
