Evaluation methods for electricity market models applied to smart grids

This master thesis project is within the Stockholm Royal Seaport project and will be a collaboration between KTH and Fortum.
Smart grids are the future electrical grids. Smart grid often refers to the driver to make the electrical system more environmental friendly and improve the markets functionality. In order to accelerate innovation in smart grid and technology applications, pilot projects have been employed throughout the world. One pilot project in Sweden is the Stockholm Royal Seaport project.

The objective with this Master thesis project is to perform a compilation of research on which market models for smart grids that have been tested around the world and how they have been evaluated. The focus should be on the market models similar to the ones to be tested in the Stockholm Royal Seaport project. Based on conclusions from the international review, guidelines on how to develop evaluation methods for the Stockholm Royal Seaport project should be designed.
