Ögonrörelsemätningssystem i bilsimulator - del 1
Technical developments in the recent years mean that the recording of eye movements is possible in many different applications, among other traffic research.
At VTI, a moving-based simulator is used to study driver behaviour under different driving scenario and use of information and assistance systems (http://www.vti.se/templates/Page____2584.aspx). Eye movements are used as an indicator of the drivers’ cognitive activity and information processed. The two master works proposed aim at producing an automatic analyse program for eye tracking data and to link eye tracking data on-line inside the car simulator.
Automatic analysis of eye movements data
The eye tracker used is today installed inside the simulator. Output data are coordinate of the eye and the eye vector in space. The goal is to connect the coordinate system of the eye tracker to a coordinate system in the car. This will make it possible to detect where the driver is looking when driving. The task is composed by two main tasks. The first task is to create a coordinate system for the car situated inside the simulator and to define where all objects are situated in relation the driver’ eye vector. The second main task is to develop a program to analyse automatically where the driver’s eye movements are located inside this world coordinate and to implement relevant eye movement indicator such as blink, fixation gaze location. A graphical user interface (GUI) will also be design for future users.
