Generation and transport of UWB radio signals over a FTTH optical link
Recently, transport of ultra-wide band (UWB) radio over fiber technology has been proposed to extend the transmission reach and allow transparency to modulation of UWB networks. In this proposed approach, UWB signal are imposed into an optical carrier. It is therefore interesting to explore methods to generate the UWB signals by optical methods, so it is more smoothly integrated with its transport over an optical fibe link.
Firstly, the student will conduct a literature survey on the general principles of UWB technology and transport of UWB radio over fibre. Secondly, the student will study the generation of UWB signal by using coherent pulse shaping. Theoretical and or simulation studies will show the feasibility of generation of UWB by optical means and its integration for transport over an optical fiber link. This study will also deliver guidelines for experimental validation. Finally, the student will wirte a thesis and defends it in an oral presentation.
