Atlas Copco Secoroc is a division within the Atlas Copcos business area Construction and Mining technique. The division develops, manufactures and market rock drilling tools on a global basis. The products are used at both surface and underground rock excavation in construction and mining industries. The headquarter is located in Fagersta Sweden with manufacturing units in six continents.

Threaded connections has been used to join/lengthening tophammer equipment like; rod/bit, rod/rod, rod/shankadapter since the mid fifties. The demand on increased productivity within the construction and mining industry has led to a rapid increase in energy transmission through the drill string. The lifetime on a drill string is today limited by the threaded connections which have been subjected to continuous development for decades. With the situation on the global market today Atlas Copco Secoroc believes that a “New connection” (that increases the lifetime by at least 30%) would have a huge market potential. This market potential makes Atlas Copco Secoroc eager to find one or preferably several solutions “outside the box”. This is the reason why Atlas Copco Secoroc is looking for you, a person that finds problem solving as a big challenge and has a personal attitude where everything is possible.

The focus of the work will be concentrated to creative product development with a goal to find one or several possible solutions. The work will contain some strength calculations in FEM (finite element method) software.

Suitable education would be mechanical engineer or similar with some knowledge in the finite element method.

The work will be quite large, that’s why Atlas Copco Secoroc has 2 vacancies which will work closely together.
