Control and system evaluation of a hydraulic linear actuator

In Tech Center Düsseldorf approximately 400 people are developing conventional and advanced steering and suspension technologies for every major automotive OEM in the world.

This project, led by the research and development team, focuses on the validation of a new hydraulic concept for application in advanced vehicle suspension systems. The work is based around a hydraulic test rig set-up consisting of a hydraulic power supply, electro-hydraulic valve block and linear actuators. The task of student can be summarized as following:

- Model validation of the system using test rig measurements (simulation and optimization of the existing TRW model)
- Implementation of controller concept/-s in the model (controller concepts defined by TRW and alternatively new concepts)
- Evaluation and optimization of the system with controller model
- Evaluation of the controllers performance at the test rig
- System evaluation together on the test rig using the optimal controller (system dynamic, disturbance rejection, use case evaluations, etc.)
