The main goal of the project is to elucidate the complex molecular
interactions between the pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.
lycopersici (FOL), the causal agent of tomato wilt disease, non-pathogenic strains of Fusarium oxysporum (FO) efficient as biocontrol agents and their host plant, tomato. High priority will be given to the identification of genes involved in the pathogenicity of FOL during the development of disease as well as the plant genes differentially expressed during the early phase of the host colonization by pathogen and biocontrol agent.
