Thermal conductivity measurements of semiconducting polymers used in thermogenerators

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Thermogenerators are semiconductor devices that transform heat into electricity. Because of the energy problem in the world, this type of device is intensively scrutinized to use the industrial or natural waste heat and produce electricity.

One novel family of semiconductors is that of (semi)conducting polymers. Although their electrical properties become well studied, very little is known on their thermal properties.

The goal of the ex-jobb is to fabricate an experimental set-up to measure the thermal conductivity of thin films of semiconducting polymers. The exjobber will fabricate specific samples by photolithographic method and assemble the electrical measurement set-up to extract the thermal conductivity.

The exjobber will have the possibility to join our collaborator at Imperial College in London for a stay over the summer time.

The ideal candidates are experimental physicists or engineers with some background in electrical measurements and heat transport.

Our research group is multidisciplinary and world-leader in the field of semiconducting polymers for printed electronics and bioelectronics.

Please contact Associate Professor Xavier Crispin for further information.
The application (CV, list of courses + marks) should be sent to Xavier Crispin before the 15th of February 2010: [email protected]
