Emission Calculation Optimisation for Air- and Ocean freight
DHL Global Forwarding (Sweden) AB is a global company dealing with forwarding (mainly with air and ocean) and logistic solutions world wide. In Sweden we have 8 branches and the head office in Märsta, with about 330 employees. We are handling all kind of shipments for our customers, focus is to deliver our service with most possible customer satisfaction.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS THESIS:
DHL Global Forwarding provides customers with emission reports based on their transported goods and the transported routes, for airfreight and ocean freight. The system that calculates is called ACCEPT and has been used from 2008 and contains two full years of data.
The Objectives for this thesis are to analyse, improve and further develop our current emission calculation system, and to use the knowledge in a customer case for transport emission reduction
PURPOSE OF THIS THESIS:
The Purpose for this plan are to:
• Review the basis of the calculations to today’s logistic environment – have parameters changed and are parameters missing
• Review the coming emission calculation standards and transport environmental foresight
• Improve and develop the basis of the calculation (version 2)
• Review the efficiency of selected routes an customer for optimisation and emission reduction and potential cost savings
We expect that this thesis will improve our calculation method and that the customer case can be utilised throughout the business.
