Thesis work - Optimisation of study design and statistical analysis of cardiovascular and electrophysiological parameters
Experimental design and analysis is an important part of safety pharmacology evaluation of effects of test substances on the cardiovascular system. Statistical methodology is used to summarise the evidence of compound related changes on blood pressure, heart rate, electrocardiogram (ECG), body temperature and other hemodynamic parameters. Also, statistical methods are used for experimantal design of safety pharmacology studies and safety pharmacology end-points in other toxicology studies.
The aim of this master thesis work is to model data from cardiovascular safety pharmacology studies, and to determine the optimum number of measurements to make for responses in safety pharmacology studies and safety pharmacology end-points in toxicology studies.
You role is to review the work already done in this area including the statistical analysis method that is currently in use, and suggest a best approach for modeling this type of telemetry data using data accumulated from previously run studies. To fullfil the role you will work closely with your customers (study directors and responsible researchers).
You are familiar with statistical inference and linear models, have a strong desire to learn subject matter science, and are used to analyse data and interprete results. We are looking for a Mathematical or Applied Statistics student who is interested in biostatistics, data analysis, and has interest in experimental design.
