Description
Today there are over 250,000 iPhone apps available in Apples app store and around 130,000 apps available on Android market. That's twice as much as it was a half year ago. To find new and interesting apps among all of these is very hard unless you know the name of the app you are looking for. Therefore a recommender system could help you to discover new apps that might interest you, without need to state the correct search queries.
We are now looking for a student who is interested to continue the work on an existing app recommender that offers personalized recommendations. The current system is divided in a server and client part, where the client is developed on an Android phone. The aim with the thesis is to explore and develop new concepts that allows the users to discover new apps in an intuitive way.
The thesis will consist of two parts, a theoretical part where the student will investigate existing systems and propose a solution to the problem described. In the other part the student will implement a prototype to verify the findings of the theoretical studies. The thesis work should start in the January, since this aligns with the overall plan of the project. Please state when you can start in your application.
Qualifications
We are looking for applicants doing their M.Sc. studies in computer science, computer networks or related area. You should have:
MSc studies in Computer Science, Computer Networks, or related area.
Good knowledge in mathematical analysis and algorithms.
Good skills in programming languages (Java).
Preferably worked with Android development and Google Apps Marketplace.
Since Ericsson is a multinational company, collaboration with other parts of Ericsson is important. International experience is a plus, and fluency in English a must.
