Reduction of Non-specific Adsorption of Proteins in a Microfluidic System

This diploma project will be part of a research project aimed at the development of methods suitable for high throughput characterization of protein pharmaceuticals. The research project is performed in collaboration with the company Gyros AB, which produces microfluidic instrumentation for protein quantification and characterization. This specific diploma project will investigate different strategies for avoiding non-specific adsorption of proteins to the surfaces of the microfluidic devices. This is often a problem with microfluidic devices due to the large surface to volume ratio in channels and reservoirs with small dimensions. The project will initially explore different buffer additives or use of buffers in a different pH range than the buffers used at present.
