Control of animal behavior using optogenetics and development of new equipment

Our laboratory applies optogenetic control of unique neuronal classes in the brain to study the function during specific behaviors. We use genetically modified mice in combination with optogenetics, lasers and custom made equipment to control and record neurons in freely behaving mice. Our group is seeking a highly motivated and talented student to join us in our efforts. We are particularly interested in individuals with strong background in programming and Matlab and preferably previous experience with Arduino. The student will be integrated in everyday experiments and activities of the group, and have the a large responsibility in developing new and innovative ways of analyzing neuronal activity, animal behavior and developing customized behavioral software and hardware.
