A karaoke game
Background: The plan is to create a karaoke-like game for the web in Java (as an applet) or in ActionScript (Flash). To make the game interesting the singers song performance is evaluated while the player sings. The performance of the singer is measured by analyzing the singers singers tone and pitch. The company has access to ordinary music files and every music file is related to a MIDI file. The MIDI file represent all the tones and length of the tones that the player should sing to gain points (scoring model). We also
have some research on the signal processing required for this game. Preferably the student base the work on the current research. If the student has good ideas about signal analysis in this area an alternative is to start over and try some other way of solving the problem.
The scoring model should take the following in to consideration: The pitch of each tone, the duration of each tone and possibly estimating the tempo. However, we are open to discuss the scoring model and encourage the project participants to use their creativity and ideas.
