Image Processing Algorithms

Background
The image from a typical sensor is often referred to as a RAW image. For the RAW image to look the way you are used to, it is subject to a lot of image processing. The image processing is often implemented in an image processing pipeline, IPP, either in ASIC, DSP or FPGA. In Axis Communications case, the IPP is implemented in an ASIC called ARTPEC. A typical IPP include; Offset correction, Automatic White Balance, Demosaicing, Color correction, Noise filtering, Gamma correction, Edge enhancement and Statistics.

Goal
The purpose of the master thesis is to:
- get an understanding for the imaging system (Scene, Optics, Sensor and IPP).
- to look at possibilities to develop algorithms for the IPP in an alternative processing domains.

Examples of different processing domains are; spatial, frequency, gradient, contrast, time, etc. All work will be carried out in Linux/Debian and programming will be done in C-code.
