Master thesis work in high speed signal integrity analysis

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Your future challenge
The combination of ever-increasing performance of modern flight electronics and demand for environmental ruggedness to produce reliable computer platforms for mission critical tasks, has for many years put the need for signal simulation and analysis at the center of our design work. That these simulations are accurate and complete is fundamental for the function of the end product. Our main tool for the pre-production parts of this work is Mentor Graphics Hyperlynx which is used on all of our designs.
The work to be done is to improve our knowledge and methods in using Mentor Graphics Hyperlynx. We wish to refine and find new methods of using the tool and to identify possible flaws in the methods used today. This means hands-on work which spans over the entire EDA tool chain and is performed on existing and, when needed, experimental hardware designs from simulation to verification measurements in our lab. Theory and practice in combination. Examples of technology that will be examined are processors, FPGAs, DDR3 memory buses and various differential communication links such as PCI-E.

Todays demands
The thesis work requires the aptitude to use simulation methods and evaluating the relevance of the outcome when measured and compared with actual hardware. Further, it requires knowledge in the fundamentals of high speed digital design and high speed signal integrity theory. Previous experience in one or several of Mentor Graphics EDA tools such as Hyperlynx, DxDesigner or Expedition or similar products from other vendors is favorable.
