Design and Implementation of Intrusion Detection/Prevention System for the IP-Connected Internet of Things
Real-world deployments of WSN require secure communication. Because of the low-power nodes with lossy links it is assume to be hard to extend traditional IP security solutions in the WSN. The objective of this thesis is to device an intrusion detection/prevention system for the IP-connected Internet of Things (IoT) that can be deployed at the base station node. Such a system should be able to complement the security services that are already implemented and deployed on individual sensor nodes. The thesis also includes the implementation of newly designed architecture and its evaluation in the real IP-connected IoT.
The work will be carried out in NES group at SICS. NES is one of the European best research groups in the area of WSNs. NES has developed the well-known Contiki operating system, COOJA simulator, uIP stack, compressed IPsec, etc. We are looking for a top, creative student with an interest in wireless networking, sensor networks, and IT security.
Very good intellectual and C programming skills are required. Since the work is performed in an international environment, good communication skills in English are required.
