The aim of this study is to define a DSP algorithm for the detection of defects on the wheels of freight trains.
Several candidate algorithms need to be verified and evaluated for the lowest error rate.
Initially the student can use routines like FFT, among others, that are readily available in e.g. Labview toolboxes. After finding the optimal algorithm, the next stage will be to implement this in the embedded Blackfin processor.
