Open source vs Commercial, Internet vs Enterprise Search Engines
Comintelli develops, markets, and sell the award-winning product Knowledge XChanger™. The product automates the tasks of aggregating content from several sources, structuring it using topic maps, analyzing, searching and finally delivering it in a relevant format to authorized users.
The objective of this master thesis is to investigate the different technologies in the search engine market. Towards what areas are these technologies focused? What are the differences between them? What are the pros and cons for open source search engines vs. commercial ones? For Internet vs Enterprise Search Engines? What technologies are most suitable for the Internet and which ones are better suited for Enterprise search? Who are the biggest players for each of the technologies/focus areas? The deliverable for this master thesis will be a report where all the above questions are addressed.
