Properties of Superhydrophobic Coatings

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Project to be carried out at YKI, Stockholm, Sweden.

Background
Superhydrophobicity is an interesting property and can be achieved by the correct combination of hydrophobicity and surface structure. The leaf of the lotus flower shows this type of behavior. A superhydrophobic surface has a contact angle against water of more than 150 degrees.

Project
In this thesis work we will investigate some fundamental surface chemistry properties of superhydrophobic coatings on surfaces that can be of relevance to paper and packaging.

Requirements
Program in chemical engineering or related topics.
Start: Spring term 2007 (early). 20 credit points.
