Simulation SIL for double clutch control development
Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCT) are a technology that is heavily under development in the automotive area in order to increase the efficiency of the gearbox and thereby reduce CO2 emissions and still proved a good driveability to the vehicle costumer. The DCT is basically two parallel manual gearboxes with a control system. To do a shift you simply preselect a gear on the axle who’s clutch is open, and then just swap clutches. In figure 1 the DCT principle is described. Assume that you are driving on 1st gear, then K1 will be closed and K2 will be open. If you then want to do a 1-2 shift, you engage 2nd gear on the even axle and then start to open K1 at the same time as K2 is being unconnected.
The objective with this thesis is to develop parts of a simulation model in simulink. The model shall be used as a testbench for developing and testing software. The parts that shall be developed in this thesis are the ones related to the electric motors and sensors. The interface towards Controls SW shall be identical with the interface in the future real hardware so that the controls software will be plug-n-play when the hardware arrives. Clutch and gearbox models will be provided for this work but it is of utmost importance to have a close cooperation with the development of physical models so that the complete model becomes effective and fulfills the requirements to be used as a software development test bench.
