Simulation and investigation of faults acting on a vehicle dynamics control system

In recent years motor vehicle are being more and more equipped with systems which control the lateral, vertical and/or longitudinal dynamics. These systems have the task to improve the comfort, driving behavior and the safety of the vehicle. However faults occurring on the system can have critical impact on vehicles behavior and drivability.
Using a Hardware-in-the-Loop test-rig, a detailed mathematical model of the vehicle and its environment on the software side will be interacting with the vehicle dynamics control system on the hardware side. Different faults will be simulated on the model and on the real hardware and their impact and influence on the system and the vehicle shall be investigated.
The project consists of the following tasks
¿ defining different faults which can occur on the system,
¿ implementation of the faults on the existing model and/or on the test-rig and
¿ simulation and experimental investigation of the faults and their impact on the system and the vehicle.
The project will be done in close cooperation between the university and its industrial part-ners. The duration is limited to 6 months.
